Education is for discovering meaning in life, developing
human potential and empowering individuals to be responsible
for their lives and to contribute to the society in which
they live. The academic curriculum at St. Mary’s School
is designed to do just this.
The goals and objectives of our instructional program coincide
with those of the State of Massachusetts and the Diocese
of Springfield. Our students consistently score above average
on standardized tests given in the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th
grades.
In addition to the basic subjects taught to students in
grades K-8, the curriculum is complimented with a Gym, Music,
Art, Computer and Library period each week. Spanish is scheduled for students in grades
5-8 who switch classes at the junior high level.
Each classroom, the library and offices are equipped with
computers that are Internet accessible and a fully equipped
computer lab provides state of the art technology to the
students. A new science lab enables hands-on experiences
to compliment the science program. Up-to-date textbooks and
materials cover essential areas while a professional and
gifted Faculty and Staff ensures quality instruction and
learning.
A balanced curriculum is essential for achieving a solid
foundation and therefore is rounded out with speakers and
groups coming into the school as well as classes going out
for various cultural and entertainment events.
Please take note of our school calendar for specific programs,
speakers, trips and their dates and times.
